Christina Boncyk, MD

Christina Boncyk, MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2013 and stayed in Madison to complete her residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin.

She completed her critical care medicine fellowship at Vanderbilt University Hospital in 2018 before joining the faculty and receiving a T32 research-training grant and subsequent Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER), mentored research training grant. Her work in patient-centered outcomes research and medication management during critical illness to improve brain health is currently supported by funding through NIDUS, the National Institute of Health (NIA), industry, and departmental resources.

Her research efforts involve investigating: 1) the impact of medication management during acute illness, particularly surrounding delirium management, 2) the association of biomarkers of neuronal health and injury with delirium, and the potential influence of sedatives on these relationships, and 3) the impact of medications on long-term outcomes for ICU survivors.
