Dr. Annmarie Hosie is Associate Professor, Palliative Care Nursing at the University of Notre Dame Australia and St. Vincent’s Health Network Sydney; and an Adjust Associate Professor at the University of Technology Sydney. Her PhD at the University of Notre Dame Australia researched delirium epidemiology, systems, and nursing practice in palliative care units, and her post-doctoral research at IMPACCT (Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation), University of Technology Sydney investigated delirium prevention in people with advanced cancer in hospital.
Dr. Hosie’s overall research focus is on improving clinical care, function, and quality of life of people with advanced illness. She worked clinically as a registered nurse for 25 years prior to transitioning to a full-time academic nurse researcher. Dr. Hosie currently leads a NHMRC-funded multisite project to support palliative care unit teams to successfully integrate the Delirium Clinical Care Standard. Additionally, Dr. Hosie holds leadership positions in palliative care trial and delirium advocacy groups, serves on the Editorial Board for journals such as Delirium and Delirium Communications, and chairs the Australasian Delirium Association DECLARED 2023 conference planning committee.
