CIRCL Launches National Cancer Institute Funded Initiatives

A joint initiative between Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medicine seeks to provide training and mentoring of investigators who have an interest in incorporating dissemination and implementation (D&I) methods into their research. The Center for Implementation Research in Cancer in Later Life (CIRCL) focuses on reducing the gap between behavioral intervention research and clinical care for older adults with cancer and their caregivers through D&I science. CIRCL is funded by the National Cancer Institute (5R21CA277833-02).

Over the next 3 years this Center will launch the following initiatives:

  • An annual webinar series where core D&I science topics with a goal of promoting knowledge enhancement in the area of D&I science.
  • A monthly work-in-progress seminar where investigators present their work (e.g., study aims, full research proposals, manuscripts) and get feedback from senior scientists.
  • A T32 mentorship program, where we match mentors with mentees to provide individualized guidance on ongoing D&I research projects as well as career development.

In this mentorship program, fellows receive advanced training in all aspects of research necessary to become an independent investigator in psycho-oncology. Fellows also work closely with at least one Primary Research Mentor from the training program faculty. Learn more about the Research Fellowship in Psycho-Oncology (NCI/NIA T32).
