Allyson Palmer, MD, PhD is a geriatrician and hospitalist with training in geroscience. She is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Palmer works clinically on the Geriatric Medicine consulting service where she is active in resident and fellow education, and is co-director of the ‘Senior Sages’ geriatric medicine curriculum at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine.
Dr. Palmer’s research focuses on the contribution that aging processes, in particular cellular senescence, have in delirium risk and consequences of delirium. She is also interested in novel methods of delirium detection and prediction in hospitalized patients.
In recognition of her research, Dr. Palmer has received a NIDUS II Collaborative Award, the AFAR Sagol Network GerOmic Award, and Mayo Clinic’s Kern Scholar award for research in healthcare delivery. She is an active member of the American Delirium Society research committee.
